Megan Finlay
Megan is a therapeutically endorsed optometrist, who completed her Bachelor of Vision Science and Masters of Optometry (both with Distinction) at QUT in 2018.
Megan grew up on a livestock and stone fruit farm south-west of Stanthorpe, before attending boarding school in Toowoomba and moving to "the big smoke" of Brisbane for university. She was very lucky to holiday in Mooloolaba during her winter school holidays for as long as she can remember, so has seen many a change here over the years.
After completing her university studies, Megan moved for a year to south-western WA with her partner Ryan, where she gained exposure to a vast demographic of patients and honed her clinical skills as a full-scope optometrist. The Sunshine Coast has, however, always been where Megan hoped to settle down and she jumped at the opportunity to move back in January of 2020 (thankfully just before covid hit)!
As a clinician, Megan is quite a perfectionist and takes a very thorough approach when discerning your needs and caring for your eyes. She highly values patient education, as she believes knowledge is power. She will always take the time to explain, in easy to understand terms, what is needed to best look after your eyes (and why!). Although she doesn't have any of her own just yet, Megan loves children, and can't wait to take care of your little ones! She is also particularly passionate about managing dry eye , having recently become a member of the Dry Eye Society. This membership has granted her a wealth of knowledge and resources for the most up-to-date treatment of dry eye.
Outside of work, Megan can usually be found with her nearest and dearest, attending her CrossFit gym or curled up with a book on the beach.
